Sonia Bhimani

Licensed Clinical Social Worker – Supervisor

Clinical Supervisor

Katy & Richmond, TX

Sometimes the Person You’re Grieving Is the Person You Used to Be.

A chronic illness changes what your body can do. A major life transition changes the future you expected. A loss changes the way home feels. And sometimes, after enough has changed, you look at your life and realize you don’t quite recognize yourself anymore.

There can be real grief in that.

Sonia Bhimani is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Supervisor who works with adults navigating chronic illness, grief and loss, significant life changes, and the emotional impact of adjusting to a new normal. She sees clients in our Katy and Richmond offices and believes therapy should give people a place where their story can be heard without judgment while they begin making sense of what comes next.

Sonia doesn’t expect you to rush toward acceptance or immediately find the positive in a difficult experience. Sometimes healing begins by acknowledging how much has changed.

When Life Changes, Your Sense of Self Can Change Too

Some transitions are chosen.

Others happen to us.

A new diagnosis. A change in physical ability. The loss of someone important. A relationship ending. A major shift in family, work, or daily life.

When your sense of normalcy changes, it can affect much more than your circumstances. It can change how you see yourself, your relationships, your independence, and even what you imagined your future would look like.

Sonia helps clients make space for those emotions while gradually exploring a different question:

Who am I now?

Therapy can provide the support to grieve what has changed while also beginning to understand the person you are becoming.

Your Story Deserves to Be Heard

One belief has remained central throughout Sonia’s career:

Everyone has a story.

Feeling unheard can make difficult seasons even more isolating. Sonia creates a space where clients can talk openly about what they have experienced, what they have lost, what feels stuck, and what they hope can change.

Her role is not to decide what your next chapter should look like.

Instead, she works alongside you as you identify your own goals, recognize your strengths, and find ways to move forward that make sense for your life.

Supporting the Next Generation of Social Workers

Sonia’s commitment to helping people grow also extends into her role as a Board Approved Supervisor and Clinical Supervisor at Greater Houston Counseling Services.

She has supported interns and social workers throughout different stages of their professional development and considers supervision one of the most meaningful parts of her career.

Her supervision philosophy mirrors her therapeutic approach: provide guidance when it is needed while creating enough room for people to develop confidence, autonomy, and their own professional identity.

Sonia believes good supervision is not about creating clinicians who practice exactly like their supervisor.

It is about helping clinicians become thoughtful, capable professionals who trust themselves while knowing they have support when they need it.

Therapy in Katy & Richmond, TX

Sonia provides therapy for adults at Greater Houston Counseling Services in both our Katy and Richmond locations.

She works particularly well with people navigating grief, chronic illness, major life transitions, and the emotional process of adjusting when life no longer looks the way it once did.

You may not be able to return to exactly who you were before everything changed.

But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a meaningful life on the other side of change.

If you’re ready to begin understanding what this next version of your life can look like, Sonia would be honored to support you.
