Teen, Family & Young Adult Therapist in Cypress & Katy, TX

For the Teens Who Feel Misunderstood, the Parents Who Are Trying Their Best, and the Families Ready to Break Old Patterns

You love your family.

That isn't the problem.

The problem is that somewhere along the way, the conversations became harder. Your teenager has started shutting you out. Every discussion seems to turn into an argument. You want to help, but you're not sure what they need anymore, and if you're honest, you're feeling overwhelmed too.

Or maybe you grew up in a family where emotions weren't talked about. You learned to stay strong, keep your struggles private, and push through because that's simply what was expected. It doesn't have to stay that way.

I'm Hina Waqas, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and I provide therapy in our Cypress and Katy, Texas offices, as well as telehealth throughout Texas. I work with teens, young adults, and families who are ready to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and create healthier patterns that last long after therapy ends.

I Believe Every Family Can Learn a New Way to Connect

One of the reasons I became a therapist is because I've seen how deeply culture, family experiences, and unspoken expectations shape the way we communicate.

In many families—including my own culture—mental health simply isn't something that's openly discussed. Struggles are often carried quietly, emotions are pushed aside, and asking for help can feel uncomfortable or even shameful.

I believe therapy creates something many people have never experienced before:

A space where every person feels heard without judgment.

Where curiosity replaces criticism.

Where families stop blaming one another and start understanding one another.

I don't believe most families are broken.

I believe they're often doing the best they can with tools that no longer work.

And the beautiful thing about tools is that they can be learned.

The People I Love Working With

I especially enjoy working with:

  • Teenagers navigating friendships, identity, school stress, and growing independence
  • Parents who want to better understand and connect with their children
  • Families working through communication challenges or conflict
  • Young adults adjusting to college, careers, or major life changes
  • Individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or emotional overwhelm
  • Clients navigating cultural expectations, family pressures, and generational differences

Whether we're meeting individually or together as a family, my goal is always the same, to help people feel more connected to themselves and to one another.

Therapy That Feels Like a Conversation, Not a Judgment

Starting therapy can feel intimidating.

You might wonder if you'll know what to say or whether your struggles are "big enough" to deserve help.

The truth is, you don't have to have everything figured out before you walk through the door.

My role isn't to judge or tell you how to live your life.

My role is to listen, ask thoughtful questions, help you understand what's happening beneath the surface, and give you practical tools that support lasting change.

I tailor therapy to each client's unique needs using evidence-based approaches including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Strengths-Based Counseling
  • Trauma-Informed Care

Together, we'll build healthier coping skills, strengthen communication, increase emotional resilience, and create meaningful progress one step at a time.

More Than a Therapist

Outside of the therapy room, I'm first and foremost a wife and mom to two energetic little ones who keep life full of laughter, curiosity, and adventure.

Some of my favorite days are the simplest ones—playing games with my family, exploring somewhere new, reading a good book, or planning our next family outing.

Being a parent has taught me that strong relationships aren't built through perfection.

They're built through patience, presence, and showing up for one another, even when the conversations feel hard.

That's the same heart I bring into every therapy session.
